Aplix to deliver next generation Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP)
Tokyo, Japan -May 1, 2009-
Aplix Corporation is proud to announce today that the company will be providing the official reference implementation (RI) and technology compatibility kit (TCK) for the Mobile Information Device Profile, MIDP 3.0 specification, for JavaTM ME. The RI and TCK will be available in the third quarter of 2009.
MIDP 2.0 has become the most widely deployed mobile development platform in history. MIDP 3.0, the next major version of the profile, adds innovative, new features that enable a more compelling and capable mobile content environment on Java, driving the evolution of the Java ME ecosystem. Features such as new UI components and tighter specification language reduce both development time and potential fragmentation issues. Introduction of fundamental architectural concepts such as shared libraries, standardized concurrency behavior, and inter-application communications will revolutionize the way mobile Java developers design and deploy their applications. Further, MIDP 3.0 remains backwards compatible with MIDP 1.0 and 2.x, allowing users to tap into the vast market of currently available Java ME applications.
Aplix Corporation is the global leader in deploying Java technology in mobile phones and other digital devices. In addition to being a member of the Java ME EC, Aplix is actively involved in developing specifications through the Java Community ProcessSM (JCPSM), as well as a contributing member in industry groups such as the LiMo Foundation, OMTP, Bondi, OHA, and OMA. Aplix also provides technical expertise, including developing operator-specific specifications and corresponding compliance test suites to global operators. Aplix’s Java platform has been adopted by the world's top manufacturers, powering over 531 million devices as of December 2008, and still growing.
