Aplix’s JBlend™ solution deployed in OMNIA,
Samsung’s newest mobile phone
Tokyo, Japan – August 5, 2008-
Aplix Corporation (TSE: 3727) announced today that its JBlend MVM (multitasking virtual machine) solution for the Windows Mobile Platform will be deployed in OMNIA(SGH-i900), the newest mobile phone by Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.
OMNIA, meaning ‘everything’ in Latin and ‘wish’ in Arabic, goes beyond the current top-of-the-line features available in today’s mobile phones.Equipped with full touch screen and various multimedia features, it brings together high performance business content, top of the range style and a fun, dynamic multi-media experience, to ensure consumers are always connected both at home and at work.
Aplix and Samsung have been working closely on the MVM core development which targets the European markets. JBlend MVM on the Windows Mobile Platform delivers seamless user experience, maintains superior performance, and provides comprehensive JSR support. Also, Aplix has collaborated with ARM to integrate ARM Mali-SVGt and Mali-JSR226 into this JBlend MVM, adding the capability to run rich SVG content. The usability of Java on the Windows Mobile Platform is greatly extended with the availability of JBlend MVM, which has shown high performance on benchmark tests on the platform.
The first platform commercial launch with JBlend MVM is scheduled by early Q4 this year.Samsung will work with JBlend MVM for its upcoming Windows Mobile products.
According to market research by Nomura, the Windows Mobile Platform market is projected to increase to 22 million units in 2008, 36.6 million in 2009, and up to 48.6 million in 2010.
OMNIA with
JBlend MVM solution launched in South East Asian market from mid June
and will be available in European countries shortly.
