JBlend™ Deployed in Motorola's ROKR
TOKYO, JAPAN - SEPTEMBER 13, 2005 -
TOKYO, JAPAN - September 13, 2005 - Aplix Corporation (TSE: 3727), the global leader in deploying Java™ technology in mobile phones, announced today that the much anticipated Motorola ROKR, the very first iTunes phone available on the market, is running on the JBlend™ Java platform in a multi-application environment with Aplix’s Multi-VM technology.
In the Java mobile phone market, a lot of hype has existed around the ability to support more than one Java application on a mobile phone concurrently.Aplix Corporation first enabled such a use-case in March of 2002 with the launch of the Vodafone K.K. (formerly J-Phone) 2.5G specification phones. These phones allow users to download and run these applications at the same time, switching between the browser and the downloaded game seamlessly.
Motorola phones utilizing the latest JBlend multi-application environment have been shipping since 2004 indeed.By incorporating Aplix’s Multi-VM technology, Motorola ROKR allows users to simply switch from listening to music to talking on the phone and back again with the push of a dedicated music key.In addition to that, it offers the ability to listen to music while checking messages or snapping a photo.
“Aplix has continued to lead the market by enabling first-to-market shipments most innovative features with our customers," said Wesley Kuo, President and CSO of Aplix Corporation. "We are pleased to work with Motorola to make our JBlend and Multi-VM implementation available to the market worldwide.
