The Aplix Corporation of America R&D team is looking for a talented, highly motivated software engineer to develop its software platform for the next generation of mobile devices. Be a part of a team that is delivering innovative new features such as hardware-accelerated 3D, streaming audio and video, skinnable UIs, and Bluetooth to millions of mobile phone users. The ACOA R&D team is responsible for developing an end-to-end Java Virtual Machine software environment for running Java applications on embedded devices. Mobile phones are quickly evolving into full-featured mobile computing platforms and our software enables games, web browsers, messaging clients, and thousands of other applications to take advantage of the cutting-edge functionality now being added to these devices. As part of the team, you will be responsible for the development and debugging of new features being added to our JVM. You will also be involved in proof-of-concept projects to evaluate the potential of new hardware and software components, porting our software to new operating systems, and providing support to our worldwide customers.

| Qualifications |
A successful candidate will be a generalist with 0-2 years of experience in the development of C/C++ and Java software. A solid grounding in Systems (OS, compiler, graphics, networking, etc) with an instinct for architecture and design is highly desirable. You are able to ramp up quickly on new code and specifications and have excellent debugging skills. The position requires strong verbal and written communication skills since you will be collaborating with an international engineering and product team as well as with customers. Most importantly, you are a self-starter with an intense focus on getting things accomplished in a fast paced organization. Specific experience in JVM architecture and design, embedded systems, or consumer electronics is ideal. |

| Position Description |
Aplix Corporation of America is seeking a Configuration Management Engineer/Build Master for Aplix products. This position is part of the Aplix Corporation of America Research and Development (R&D) team in San Francisco, California. Configuration Management, Product Builds, and build failure analysis and resolution will be required in this position. Minimal travel may be required depending on projects and customer requirements.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and maintain Aplix product configurations for Aplix customers in the US.
- Create release plans and schedules in coordination with R&D Director.
- Interact with Aplix customers to ensure configuration control and release coordination.
- Build and Release Aplix Products (JBlend)
- Act as primary build focal point for Aplix product build needs in the US.
- Assist with engineering support and communication with end customers.
- Coordinate with teams in Tokyo to ensure proper builds and issue resolution inclusion in builds.
- Provide on-site engineering support at customer locations if required
- Other responsibilities added as required

| Qualifications |
- Experience with CVS, make, gmake, and perl
- Background in C
programming in order to debug build issues
- Java programming experience in order to debug build issues
- Willingness to travel internationally if needed
- Strong communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills
- Attention to detail and ability to learn quickly in a fast paced organization
- Minimum of a Bachelors in Computer Science or Engineering (or equivalent experience)
IDEAL CANDIDATE MUST MEET THE REQUIREMENTS BUT MAY ALSO POSSESS:
- Knowledge of embedded Java (J2ME, CLDC, MIDP)
- Bi-lingual in Japanese/English is highly useful, but not an absolute requirement.
- Have a solid background in Systems (OS, compiler, graphics, networking, but not necessarily VM-specifics)
- Background in embedded C programming and the drive to work on development projects as well.

| Position Description |
- Strengthen key operators and partners (e.g. chipsets, middleware components, etc) relationships in your region.
- initiate contact and/or negotiate inbound license and support agreements with key suppliers. Work with other regional Sales & Marketing teams to better manage our global partners' portfolio
- Compile and analyze competitor sales and market/product data, and periodically recommend actions regarding price distribution, product improvement, new product development, naming, positioning, packaging and definition.
- Work with regional marketing teams to design and implement reputation building tactics (e.g., standards setting bodies, road shows, seminars, events, etc.) for Aplix and its key products
- Create content for press/media releases (press, magazines, etc.), and general marketing purposes (e.g. websites, brochures, events, etc.) |
| Qualifications |
- Ability to work independently in an international environment with an excellent judgment and an ability to handle escalated situations.
- Experience with Java in the domestic and international wireless industry (J2ME, CLDC, MIDP, JCP).
- Strong English communication skills are a must.
- Pre/post sales engineering support, direct customer interaction experience.
- Willingness to travel when needed.
- Knowledge of native software enabling Java content will be a plus, e.g., Bluetooth for JSR-82 |

| Qualifications |
1) Experience and knowledge with embedded software industry in wireless industry
2) Ability to work independently in an international environment with an excellent judgment and an ability to handle escalated situations.
3) Strong team player, open-minded, entrepreneurship mindset, action oriented and able to work collaboratively to see projects through to completion
4) Very strong analytical and communication skills, fluent in English and local required languages
5) Ability to handle multiple tasks/projects at once with a strong attention to detail
6) Willingness to travel when needed.
7) Proven track record in PM role to implement and manage large scale software projects |
